We are a municipal association for the municipalities of Karlshamn, Olofström, and Sölvesborg with a joint environmental office in Sölvesborg. We fulfill the regulatory tasks of our member municipalities in the field of environmental and health protection. Approximately 30 people work with us, focusing on those we serve. This means that we are informative and advisory but also set requirements and make the necessary decisions to reduce environmental impact, increase compliance with laws, and contribute to a good business climate with healthy competition among companies and operations.

Our administration is organized with a staff, an environmental protection unit, and a food and health protection unit. You will be part of the environmental unit, which consists of ten people.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

Within health protection supervision, the association contributes to ensuring that our residents have a good living environment, as well as that preschool children and school students are not exposed to health risks. Our supervision assignment within health protection supervision also includes smoke-free environments according to the tobacco law, hygienic operations, tanning salons, swimming pools, beach bathing, sports facilities, gyms, temporary accommodations, and object-related infection control investigations.

Part of the job will involve alcohol supervision at serving establishments. Most of the alcohol supervision occurs on weekends, evenings, and nights.

The position also includes investigation/handling of decisions and supervision according to tobacco legislation, as well as supervision of over-the-counter medications and low-alcohol beer.

The role means that you are responsible for driving your cases from start to finish. Reviewing financial documentation constitutes a significant part of the supervision and permit assessment within the tobacco area. You conduct inspections on-site, check for deficiencies, follow up and set requirements, and make decisions as needed. Part of the work is to provide information and advice to businesses, as well as to collaborate with member municipalities. Contacts with the media may also occur. A professional approach is an important part of the work to create a good relationship with the companies and individuals whose cases you handle.

You will be part of a workgroup of about 5 people, who together plan, implement, and develop the supervision work and our working methods. Working on development is a natural part of everyday life. You plan and conduct your inspections independently, which creates flexibility for you.

QUALIFICATIONS

We are looking for someone who has:

• A university degree with a focus on environmental and health protection, law, economics, public health, healthcare, or other education and work experience that the employer deems equivalent.
• Education in environmental law and/or administrative law.
• Very good Swedish in speech and writing.
• Good IT skills and experience with the Office package.
• Driver's license (manual transmission).
